What to expect at a class
A slower traditional style of yoga practice (all levels). Classes are taught in a friendly community-based learning environment. In the practice you are encouraged to let go of judgment and comparison. Each class we build on from the previous week, allowing growth in your own practice over time. Classes incorporate breathing exercises, moving with good alignment through a series of active poses. Noticing how your body moves and how your mind reacts as you transition between each pose. We end each class with Savasana a time to lie on your mat, rest and absorb your practice and a short-seated meditation.
Regular Hatha Yoga can:
Improve your breathing (overall lung capacity)
Improve your flexibility, posture and stamina
Calm your mind & encourage you to be more present
What to expect at a class
A slow practice, where a small series of mainly seated poses (accessible to all) are each held passively for 5-10 minutes. Students are encouraged to work within their own limitations, slowly opening into each pose, allowing breath to slow down, body to soften and mind to relax. Yin works into our connective tissues (ligaments, tendons and fascia). We focus on different areas of the body, the meridian lines (energy channels) and chakras (energy centres) in the body. Before ending each class with Savasana, a time to lie on your mat, rest and absorb your practice.
Regular Yin Yoga can:
Improve your flexibility and mobility
Help you to develop a deeper awareness of yourself through mindfulness and meditation
Slow down the central nervous system, bringing calm and balance to body and mind.
